St Luke’s Youth Group (SLYG) is a group dedicated to faith enrichment and gathering of youth in St Luke’s Parish and the surrounding areas. What began as a small group of friends attending World Youth Day in 2008, has since flourished into a place where youth can belong.

It is the vision of St Luke’s Youth Group that "We ensure the continued opportunity and support for young people to gather and reflect on the importance of our Catholic faith, the Gospel and the Eucharist giving them enrichment in their journey of teenage years through the Holy Spirit". We strive to encourage the youth of the parish to express themselves and their beliefs in a comfortable environment with people who share the same faith.

The SLYG is comprised of three groups, a Junior Youth Group, Senior Youth Group and our Young Adults. Each group caters to the specific needs of the youth’s age group, therefore offering a comfortable and engaging environment to talk about Jesus and faith development.

The Junior Youth Group is comprised of young boys and girls in grades 5 and 6 who are interested in understanding the fundamentals of how God can be part of their lives, via a mix of fun games and thoughtful reflection activities.

The Senior Youth Group is a continuation from the juniors for secondary school students from year 7-12. This group would suit youth who are becoming mature young men and women looking for a deeper connection between their faith and the busy lives they are now starting to find themselves in.

Lastly, our Young Adults (18 +), who have finished with their schooling, have the opportunity to gather every few months to have in-depth faith based discussions with likeminded people. This is run over a casual dinner in a comfortable environment where all opinions can be shared and conversed.

All sessions are run once a month and all youth leaders have a current Working With Children’s Check:

  1. Junior YG is run after school on a Friday in the Primary School Gym from 3:30pm to 5:00pm.
    (No Entry Fee)
  2. Senior YG is run on a Friday night in the Parish Centre from 6pm to 7:30pm
(Entry Fee $5 per person or $10 per family and newcomers have no entry fee - dinner provided)
  3. Young Adults are run during a proposed time every 2-3 months.
    (No Entry Fee)
